Levendale and Woodsdale History Rooms is located in Woodsdale near Orford on Tasmania’s east coast. The Woodsdale Museum was opened in November 2006. The residence part houses many objects that were used in homes in the area from 1860 to the 1920’s. The school room has changing displays every three months. The Sheep Shearing Interpretation shed was opened in February 2009 and you will learn about the history of shearing in Tasmania from the 1860’s to today complete with the ghost shearer and hands on activities for children all set in this tranquil bush setting.

You can visit our museum each Sunday from 11 AM to 3 PM or by appointment with free tea and coffee available. The Woodsdale Museum originally was the Woodsdale State School built in 1884 which has been restored to its former glory with the original blackboards, rough sawn timber walls and beautiful local sandstone chimneys. The shearing shed and the mens/farm shed are two new structures 12 meters in length which house many artefacts from the area.

You can step back in time browsing through the many objects on show, watching the ghost and listening to the sounds of shearing today.
