The Tasmanian Saddlery School offers courses in saddle-making and leatherwork. The Tasmanian Saddlery School is located on the New Country Marsh Road between Tunnack and Woodsdale, approximately one hours’ drive north east of Hobart (60 kilometres/37 miles).
You can choose from one- and two-day courses to learn to craft a range of leatherwork. Choosing from over 300 leatherwork patterns and guided by your expert instructors you can make your own belts, sandals, phone pouches, book covers, saddlebags or bridles. Courses include Introduction to Leather, Saddlery Care and Maintenance, Introduction to Rope Work and Leatherwork for Grandparents and Grandchildren. You can even create your own saddle from scratch on a two-week intensive saddle-making course. A range of craft and cooking courses are also available. The Tasmanian Saddlery School offers accommodation with self catering facilities for longer courses.
