Casaveen Knitwear is set in Tasmania's historic Oatlands, a 60 minute drive north of Hobart. Casaveen Knitwear is made from fine merino wool produced by the McShane family in the Tasmanian midlands. The area produces some of the world's finest wool.
Over many years the McShanes have developed their flocks to produce consistently fine wool of 20 - 22 micron with a very soft handle and low prickle factor. This ensures the unique quality of Casaveen garments, which are luxuriously soft to touch, have exceptional shape retention and do not itch.At shearing only the best fleecewool is selected for processing into yarn. Following topmaking, dying and spinning interstate the wool is returned to the factory in Oatlands for knitting, linking and finishing of all garments to designs created by Clare McShane. Enjoy a tour and find out more about how garments are made, the history of the area, the story of Casaveen and why they are so committed to remain manufacturing in Tasmania, Australia. The café serves up fresh food from Tasmanian produce as well as local wines.
