New trees for historic Clarendon

Planting new trees at historic Clarendon

Young trees are being planted to replace trees removed from The Park at Clarendon due to age and for safety reasons.

The new trees were donated by Carlton Cox of Forestry Tasmania, who is a descendent of William Cox of Clarendon NSW the founder of the Cox Family in Australia and father of James who built Clarendon here in Tasmania.

Alice Johnson and Sam van Baalan, both school Captains at Evandale Primary School were specially invited to represent the younger generation. 

Planting trees with the children were Carlton Cox, Mrs.Bev Rigby of Nile - who has just completed 37 years as a Volunteer at Clarendon - Northern Midlands Mayor Kim Polley, Michael Polley Speaker, Ray Foley, Chairman of The National Trust (Tasmania)  Mrs. McKinnel of Clarendon Farm, Mrs.Jill Langan and Dick Adams.
