The Way Across Tasmania Pilgrimage

5/5/2010

The Way Across Tasmania is the construction of Australia's first permanent pilgrimage route. 14 spots around Tasmania form a spiritual pilgrimage, involving 610 km of walking track through towns. It is a $30million project to implement. The pilgrimage will take walkers from Smithton to Hobart, walking between the towns, along the verges of country roads and staying off the main roads where possible.

This pilgrimage has the potential to bring thousands of visitors to Tasmania every year, visiting our rural towns, many in the Heritage Highway region. This will have a very positive impact on many of the Heritage Highway region operators.
