Longford Racing Revival Festival

8/7/2010

The Longford Racing Revival Festival will be the first annual celebration of Longford Motor Racing from the 1950s and 60s.

1, 2, 3 April 2011. Put these dates in your calendar!

Longford was one of the world's great tracks and saw the best drivers and F1 cars compete on the 4.5 mile track. Closed in 1968, sections of the track still remain today and the most famous section, 'The Flying Mile', where cars once reached 180 mph, will play host to a revival festival to celebrate the track's amazing history.

The festival will take people on a journey back through time when Brabham, McLaren, Hill, Clark and Surtees ruled the Flying Mile. The festival will include demonstrations of legendary cars and bikes driven by famous drivers along the Flying Mile, as well as music, fashion, Tasmanian food and wine, car and bike displays and trade stands.

Not only will this event revive the history of the racing but it aims to re-establish Longford as a motor racing destination, and once again attract people from all over the world.

Did you race at Longford in the 1950s and 60s?
