A Heritage Highway traveller of nearly 200 years ago was provided with some lively accommodation.
A favorite of the time was a modest bush inn between Oatlands and Jericho. Built of small, rough slabs of gum it was described as providing those luxuries of a civilized life - sheets, blankets and highly-scented beds of mutton bird feathers. However, as was often the case in these huts, the entertainment was provided by what the traveller describes as 'a superabundance of matronly-sized fleas'!
