A Reindeer, a Train and a Dinosaur

Topiary on the roadside, St Peter's Pass

Such is the variety of topiary between Oatlands and Tunbridge that has delighted Heritage Highway travellers for 40 years.

The tradition was started by the late Jack Cashion while he was working as a patrolman for the Department of Main Roads, and continues today.  The story goes that Jack started creating these whimsical shapes during his lunch hours. Children love trying to find them and the reindeer always brings a smile around Christmas time with its decorative tinsel. The topiary theme has been continued in Oatlands.
